About Master Yordan
Master Leonard Yordan is a 5th degree Black Belt who has been studying and teaching Taekwondo for 29 years in Vermont. His journey in the martial arts started in 1982 in Randolph, VT and he has been involved in it ever since. Master Leonard Yordan’s competition career spanned over 20 years and he competed Regionally, Nationally, and Internationally.
After recovering from a life threatening automobile accident he won the A.A.U. United States Heavyweight National Championship. He is also a former National Patterns Champion. After helping establish a successful credited program at Johnson State College in 1988 he opened Yordan's Black Belt Academy in Underhill, VT in 1994. His goal was to pass on the knowledge that he had gained and strengthen the martial arts community.
He volunteers his time to work with the Physical Education Departments at Brown's River Middle School in Underhill, VT, Christ the King School in Burlington, Camels Hump Middle School in Richmond, VT, and was Artist in Residence at Colchester Middle School where he worked with over 600 students through the P.E. department. Master Yordan was part of the Burlington “City Kids” after school program working with many children in the Burlington school district. Master Yordan has also provided after school programs with Christ the King School in Burlington, VT through their enrichment program for children of all ages.
He has instructed numerous women's self defense seminars free to the public and provided training for the Vermont National Guard and Vermont Air National Guard. Master Yordan has also trained officers of the Vermont State Police and Chittenden and Franklin County Sheriff's Department. Master Leonard Yordan owns and operates two successful locations in Underhill and Burlington, VT.
